Imagine a theme park filled with screaming little children, floundering silly mascots and soggy corn dogs sold at exorbitant prices. Now picture all of them disintegrating into nothingness, instead the theme park is filled with wine and more wine. Welcome to the La Cité du Vin – the happiest place on earth for wine connoisseurs.

Translated to “the city of wine”, La Cité du Vin is a wine theme park located in Bordeaux, France’s most famous region for wine-making. Expect to visit 20 themed areas filled with exhibits about wine, sit in a 250-seat auditorium for classes  and partake in wine-tasting sessions all within its architecture that is inspired by wine swirling in a glass.

If you whine (over a wine) that the wine park is void of rides like the ones in Disneyland, well you’re not totally out of luck. La Cité du Vin offers a 50-seat simulator boat ride where you experience voyages from 6,000 BC led by wine merchants across the globe. Instead of a pretzel cart, indulge yourselves in its two restaurants and a wine bar that serves more than 500 different wines. It even has a cellar with 14,000 wines hailing from 80 different countries at your choosing.
